Botany and cartography: Micheli’s manuscripts and Inghirami’s Geometric Map are now available online

The new digitisations include important records of Tuscan botany and cartography.

The Micheli Manuscripts, kept at the University of Florence Science Library, can now be consulted online. These documents testify to the botanical studies conducted in the early 18th century by Pier Antonio Micheli, scientist and central figure in the history of modern botany.Among the newly digitized materials are significant examples of Tuscan botany and cartography.

The Geometric Map of Tuscany by Giovanni Inghirami, a manuscript map preserved at Osservatorio Ximeniano in Florence is also available. This document represents a fundamental piece in the history of Tuscan scientific cartography.
